Having Fun for an Important Cause

They put the fun in fundraising. On June 10, Fun Razors Women in Unity & Wallacetown Optimists gave an additional $8,000, for a total of $20,200 to build the new Women’s Place Emergency Shelter. The Fun Razors are sponsored by the Wallacetown Optimist club. Thank you for your continued support for our community!

Community Support Makes a Difference

On June 10, Royal LePage Triland raised $2,270 to help ensure 24 hour counseling and safety! Through various in-house activities, they have raised money to support women and children in their community. They believe that through awareness and compassion, they can make a difference. A Beary Special Donation

On May 28, the Rotary Interact Club gave 30 stuffed bears to ensure every child at Building Hope has a friend to hug. the Interact Club is for youth aged 12 – 18. It is heartening to see the youth in our community making a difference for women and children. Thank you for your support!

A Mighty Donation for Women’s Place

On April 30, 2014, West Elgin Mutual Insurance presented a donation to Carole Watson of $20,000 to create a new home for our emergency shelter. West Elgin Mutual is located in the small but mighty community of Dutton. Thank you for standing by your community and neighbours and helping to create a safe place for women and children.

Rotary Youth Group Makes a Difference

On April 10, 2014, the Rotary Club Interactors, the St. Thomas Rotary Youth Group, raised $1,000 to support the Building Hope Saving Lives campaign. The club raised money by raffling off a large teddy bear at the St. Thomas Home Show. the cheque was presented at the future site of the Women’s Place Emergency Shelter.

Donation to Provide Shelter for All

Royal LePage Landco gave a very generous $25,000 to help build a new home on February 27, 2014. These agents and their clients have been working to create safer homes and communities. They bring hope and provide shelter to those who need it most. Thank you to our long time community partner!

A Jitney to Provide Help!

On February 25, 2014, the St. Thomas Curling Club Ladies Jitney presented a cheque to Carole Watson and Deisy Vanegas for $1,212 to Violence Against Women Services Building Hope Saving Lives. The annual Jitney is a fun event hosted by the ladies club. It was a great success and will help save the lives and change the future of many women and children.

Holy Angel’s Help Provide Shelter!

A donation of $1,000 was given on February 24, 2014 by the Catholic Women’s League towards Elgin’s new shelter. The Catholic Women’s League was established in 1920. Thank you for your support in helping create a safe place for women and children in our community!

On February 13, 2014, Knox Fingal Presbyterian Women’s League & Women’s Mission Services gave $5,000 towards the new Women’s Place – Elgin’s Emergency Shelter. The Women’s League and Women’s Mission Services are an integral part of the Church and provide great support to families and organizations in the community.
