Walk a Mile in Her Shoes 2014!

Awesome Kindness at 5th Annual Walk a Mile in Her Shoes!

On Sunday, September 28, 130 kind souls gathered in the beautiful sunshine at Pinafore Park in St. Thomas. From this energetic crowd, 63 men strapped on women’s shoes and walked a mile as a fun way to bring awareness to the serious issue of violence against women, and raise funds for Women’s Place – Elgin’s Emergency Shelter. It was heartening indeed to see so many men stepping up to create safety for women and children in our community.

Together, the men and their supporters gave $22,032 to ensure women and children can get to the safety and counsel of Women’s Place 24 hours a day from anywhere across Elgin County.

Thank you for the gift of your community spirit and beautiful generosity! We are fortunate to work with many men who want to create safety for women and children and give their energy, financial support and leadership to make it happen.

More information on generosity can be found on the Events tab, along with photos from the walk.
